Painted on location from the Lower Yosemite Falls trailhead in late spring, when the snowmelt is still roaring and the falls are at their most powerful. Both tiers are visible here — Upper Yosemite Fall plunging nearly 1,400 feet from the granite rim above, and Lower Yosemite Fall crashing into the valley floor below, framed by the dense green of the surrounding pines and canyon walls.

Famous Jamas captured this piece in a single session, working quickly to hold the cool, mist-charged light of the falls against the warm granite. The vertical format lets the full drama of the two-tier cascade breathe, with the forest floor anchoring the composition and drawing the eye upward.
